I must say I’m not impressed with the basic usage patterns in Windows Vista. For me, the way the GUI behaves doesn’t really matter as long as it’s reasonable and I’m quite happy with Windows XP. However, I’m wondering what Vista has to offer for programmers. (via Digg)
The Zune is Microsoft’s iPod competitor. It came out with a lot of marketing but failed to match any reasonable sales expectations. It is mostly criticized as being incomplete and immature. Personally, I think the first version of Microsoft stuff always comes out lacking, but Microsoft stays for the long haul and delivers a fine product in later versions. Right now, however, you can see Leo Laporte talk about the Zune and see for yourself why it (currently) sucks. (via Digg)
I really thought this day was going slow on the blogging side until I saw this stupid gadget. The Email Clock ticks the amount of email going into your inbox, so you can… well, I have no idea what you can do with this information. No clue whatsoever.
Last year they let some kids play old, classic, games. Their reactions to the games were hilarious. So hilarious, actually, that they repeated this with different games again this year (and got an equally funny result). (via The Old New Thing)
Sony is really doing stupid stuff lately. After the sneaky spyware they put on their CDs and the “we were slow to react on exploding batteries” fiasco, now Sony is using fake viral marketing on YouTube by using a marketing firm, which in turn registered the domain name alliwantforxmasisapsp.com (currently unavailable). The web site address means “All I Want For Christmas Is A PSP” (PSP stands for Sony’s PlayStation Personal).

Previously I posted about this cool stop motion video (previous post link), but honestly I didn’t think you can do anything in this area that will be worth posting again. However this guy, Lasse Gjertsen, who can neither play drums nor the piano, posted this stop motion video. It’s fun to watch and eventually develops into good music, too. (via Slashdot)

Yes, you heard it right. Just like the surprising free Windows Vista and Office 2007 offer from not too long ago (which is over, by the way), now Microsoft lets you register a domain name for free. The registration is only for US residents. I didn’t try giving a fake address, but if you do let me know how it worked out for you.
